Wethington made her first public appearance with a press conference yesterday, as reported on Fox News. She held a press conference.
The first words reportedly out of the girl's mouth when she awoke 3 days after the fall were to give praise to God and declare that He must have a plan for her life.
Of her ordeal, she recalled, "I remember jumping out of the plane and looking up and seeing there was a complication with the parachute…. I wasn't strong enough to fight of the wind… I remember screaming and then I blacked out."
Doctors say that although McKenzie has some bleeding on the brain, a lacerated liver and a kidney, and a fractured her back, she is progressing very well. A marvel, really, considering the circumstances.
McKenzie also shared her new perspective on life. "I always wanted to be a surgeon," she said. "And now I know I want to specialize in trauma… I can relate to the patients more."
