RICK WARREN STANDS UP TO PIERS MORGAN ON GAY MARRIAGE

E

"I fear the disapproval of God more than I fear your disapproval or the disapproval of society." -Rick Warren

Rick Warren appeared on CNN's Piers Morgan Live show recently, speaking forcibly in defense of traditional marriage.

When asked if he believed "in equality for all," Warren replied that he was "against the redefinition of the term 'marriage.'"

"I don't think other groups get the opportunity to redefine a term. Don't take a term and make it something different," he said. "See, tolerance, Piers, used to mean we treat each other with mutual respect, even if we have major disagreements. Today, tolerance has been changed to mean, 'all ideas are equally valid.' Well, that's nonsense. All ideas are not equally valid."

"Historically, around the world the vast majority of people would say that marriage means one man and one woman in a commitment," he added.

Morgan then asked Warren if he could ever see himself—or Christianity in general—embracing gay marriage.

"I cannot see that happening in my life," replied Warren. "I fear the disapproval of God more than I fear your disapproval or the disapproval of society.
